Refresh a Bedside Table with Fewer Decisions
A bedside table is most useful when it supports a few familiar actions. Start by removing everything and returning only what you use regularly. Notice whether a book, lamp or glass needs a particular amount of space.
Give small items a defined place so they do not spread across the surface. A shallow dish or a drawer may be enough. Keep access to switches and other practical features clear.

Choose decoration after the useful items are in place. One object with personal meaning can be more satisfying than a group bought to match an image. Consider whether the arrangement is easy to dust and maintain.
Live with the simpler layout before buying anything else. If you repeatedly reach for an item that is stored elsewhere, adjust the arrangement. A room becomes more comfortable through attention to daily use as well as through its visual appearance.
